Parka® is a combination of physical and biochemical properties that enhance cuticular membrane stability. The coating is water-repellent but permeable for continued transpiration without sun damage. The layer allows the plant to use solar radiation for photosynthesis instead of oxidative compounds that can break down the fruit’s heat stress tolerance. By reinforcing the cuticle with Parka®, the fruit is less susceptible to cracking, breaking, and plant pathogens have fewer opportunities to enter the fruit.
