Municipal Water Solutions

In an industry that is literally flooded with decontamination options, BioSafe Systems takes pride in leading the way as a prime American manufacturer of peroxyacetic acid (PAA), the sustainable option for wastewater disinfection, odor control, and algae management. BioSafe Systems’ proprietary chemistry oxidizes pathogens, controls causative bacteria, and breaks down organic matter and odor-causing organisms. All this is possible with PAA, a clean chemistry that degrades with no negative environmental impact or harmful by-products. Ensure compliance and rid your operation of discharge concerns with our OMRI-Listed and EPA-registered peroxyacetic acid-based water solutions.

Research

BioSafe Systems consistently works to be an example of accountability in the biochemical industry. Bearing that in mind, we make sure our research and development are tried, tested and true, which is why we’ve partnered with the University of Massachusetts Water & Energy Technology Center (WET Center) to conduct extensive research on the efficacy of our sustainable chemistry and innovative technology.

Not only is BioSafe Systems directing lab research at UMass, but we’ve also put boots on the ground to test our approach to disinfection and odor control at operational wastewater treatment facilities. Outside the lab, we’ve helped customers begin, and continue using our chemistry effectively. Often, on-site trials are so successful that research results in a relationship. We’ve made strong connections with wastewater treatment professionals and helped customers across America implement PAA applications and maintain usage for years.

Our clients can testify to exactly how peroxyacetic acid (PAA) holds up in real-life situations outside a controlled lab environment. Case studies prove how extremely successful PAA is at removing coliforms, hydrogen sulfide, and pathogens at a more effective rate than common chemistries like chlorine, making PAA a competitive choice for wastewater treatment.

Berkeley Heights Case Study

In 2015, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection implemented restrictions to wastewater discharge regarding chlorine residuals and disinfection by-products. The compulsory restrictions have led facilities to research alternative disinfection methods. They explored an ultraviolet system and a peroxyacetic acid (peracetic acid, PAA) dosing system. In the end, they moved forward with the PAA treatment option and used BioSafe Systems’ SaniDate 15.0 for effluent disinfection and benefited from the easy implementation process and shorter contact time, both resulting in a reduced operating cost for the facility.

Parsippany-Troy Hills Case Study

Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Wastewater Treatment Plant needed to eliminate THMs (trihalomethanes) in sewage plant discharge water to adhere to New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s new regulations and needed to be environmentally considerate. Parsippany-Troy Hills tested whether BioSafe Systems’ PAA chemistry could treat the water for regulated contaminants without leaving harmful residuals or disinfection by-products and were have remained a loyal and satisfied customer of BioSafe Systems since.

Oxidizing Agent

GC Liquid Oxidizer Treatment is an effective solution for hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans and oxidizable compounds. As an alternative to liquid odor control solutions such as permanganate and chlorine, peroxyacetic acid (PAA) provides strong oxidizing power to target odor compounds at a cost-effective price. The environmentally sensitive nature of PAA is an ideal replacement to commonly used chemistries.

Oxidizing Agent

GCPRO Oxidizer Treatment is the clear choice for treating hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, other malodors and oxidizable compounds. Its powerful, oxidizing formula also cleans organic residues and buildup without the pains and stains involved with the handling of other chemistries; making it the ideal alternative to potassium permanganate.

Algaecide / Fungicide / Bactericide

GreenClean Liquid 5.0 is an effective and selective chemistry for the control of cyanobacteria and algae. Like all BioSafe Systems’ products, GreenClean Liquid 5.0 is a sustainable, reduced-risk chemistry that has minimal impact on non-target organisms.

Granular Algaecide / Fungicide

GreenClean PRO is a fast-acting water treatment tool that is effective against a broad spectrum of algae types, including filamentous and planktonic blue-green algae.

Bactericide

SaniDate® 16.0 WWT is disinfection chemistry that creates a fully sustainable solution for oxidizing bacteria and malodorous compounds on contact in wastewater.
